Service Excellence Awards
These awards are intended to recognize excellence in the work conducted within the Dean of Students portfolio by dedicated portfolio team members (includes full- and part-time contractors and student employees) and volunteers across all U of A campuses.
Current undergraduate or graduate students may nominate an individual employed in the Dean of Students Portfolio whom they identify as having gone above and beyond in providing a service. The nominator must explain how the individual exhibited exemplary service using a specific example to illustrate.
Dean of Student team members may nominate a peer; managers cannot be the primary nominator but can support a nomination. Letters should specify qualities that result in the nominee excelling in their job, and provide examples to illustrate.
Students or DoS staff may nominate a volunteer who has contributed above and beyond expectations. This would exclude DOS employees who are serving in a volunteer capacity. Letters should indicate in what capacity the volunteer has served, how the volunteer has made a difference to the service and how they exceeded expectations.
Students or staff may nominate a student-staff employee who has gone above and beyond in providing a service. The nominator must explain how the individual exhibited exemplary service using a specific example to illustrate. Managers cannot be the primary nominator but can support a nomination.
Nomination submissions will open on January 8, 2018. Nomination submissions, including supporting letters, are due by March 16, 2018. All nominations are confidential and will remain anonymous, though information provided on the nomination forms may be read at the awards ceremony.
Recipients will receive a plaque, gift card, and a letter of recognition from the Vice-Provost and Dean of Students, at an award ceremony held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Faculty Club, Saskatchewan Room (North Campus), from 3 - 5 p.m.
